Mo(o)nday Drops š
The belief of never having enough time.
The past 2 weeks have felt like an intermittent earthquake.
I start to unpack my clothes from boxes, only to realize I have nowhere to store the clothes in my new apartment⦠so they end up on the floor.
I try to organize the bathroom only to realize that I donāt have enough room for all of my sh*t⦠so I end up throwing more stuff away.
I lug a huge ass couch from my parents house that they are no longer using only to realize that it doesnāt fit the room properly.
So on and so forth⦠my life has gone on like this for the past 2 weeks.
I am the type of person that feels an urgency to get things done, quickly. If I feel like there is chaos around me, I have a hard time feeling grounded.
I kept describing the past 2 weeks of my life to those around me as chaos, because that is how it truly has felt.
But I also know that the more we believe something of our situation, the more it becomes our reality.
I was stuck in the perpetuating cycle of chaos.
And because of that ā I was putting almost all of my supportive habits on the back burner.
This is very unlike me, and I felt startled as I realized how hard it was for me to stick to my habits and routines that I had instilled over the years.
This is a practice that I teach my clients, and yet here I was struggling to do it myself.
I felt like a hypocrite.
But it also gave me empathy for my clients. For those whom struggle to stick to their habits and routines.
It is a frustrating feeling when you know what to do to make yourself feel better, and yet no part of you wants to do it. You resist it and choose to not make time for it.
But why?
I sat with this for awhile in the past 2 weeks as I continued to watch all my supportive habits take the back burner.
This weekās Mo(o)nday drop is all about:
Not having enough time.
I havenāt been making the space or time to slow down, tune in and listen.
I have been acting from my mind, rather than from my body.
I have been very disconnected from her.
I was feeling such intense chaos and pressure to get my new home organized, that I was struggling to make time for myself in the morning.
I stopped meditating.
I went on my phone immediately upon waking.
I didnāt go on my morning walks.
I wasnāt working out.
I felt ungrounded, and yet prioritizing anything outside of moving felt impossible.
It felt like a chore that I had no interest in doing.
Itās funny how we can have all the tools in the world to take care of ourselves, and yet it can still be a struggle.
The irony is that one of the main ethos of my work is to learn how to listen to your body.
And yet here I have been⦠not taking the time to listen.
I realized that my choice in ignoring and not showing up for my healthy routines wasnāt due to a lack of discipline, but a belief that I didnāt have enough time.
I didnāt have enough time to prioritize the habits and daily routines that I know make me feel my best. The parts of my day that allow me to show up for my clients and my work.
That allow me to be a happy person.
āI never have enough timeā
I would be rich for the amount of times I have heard people use this as an excuse for not doing the things they want to do.
I get it ā when life is chaotic it truly doesnāt feel like there is enough time.
But this is also a belief.
This was a belief that I was embodying over the past 2 weeks, and guess what?
I constantly was feeling behind.
Once I got a little spiritual spanking from my somatic coach ā I took a step back to reassess how I had been showing up, and how I could start to make a change.
Iāll be honest⦠sitting in meditation for the first few days wasnāt easy.
I was very resistant.
But ultimately, it set the tone for a much better day than the previous ones when the first thing I had done was go straight to my phone.
I was acting from a place of urgency.
I wasnāt being mindful.
I was disconnected from my body.
As I changed my mindset and began to prioritize my morning routine again, it seemed that I also began to gain time back.
It is amazing how a simple mindset shift can change the whole experience of your day.
Instead of diving into the chaos and overwhelm ā I chose to ask my body what it needed.
The answer?
Structure.
Because for me ā structure is what I have needed in order to have more time.
So to wrap up this weekās Mo(o)nday drop:
Feeling like thereās never enough time.
When you feel like you are stuck in this cycle of lack, that is likely your signal to pause. Go inward.
Ask yourself, what do I need right now?
Your body knows the answer.
Your mind plays tricks.
Donāt let the mind trick you into acting with urgency.
Because that āurgentā thing is that needs to get done is probably not as important as taking care of yourself first.
Believe me ā I am no expert at this. As I write this, I know that this message is just for me as much as it is for you.
But that is the beauty of being on this never-ending journey of learning, growing and evolving.
I am on this path right by your side, and know that I am here to cheer you on and be a supportive light.
